Let's give Christmas to everyone – it’s easy to help through charity campaigns over the festive period
Stockmann plc 6.11.2023
Stockmann’s longstanding cooperation with several charity partners continues this year, especially in the form of Christmas campaigns. Our customers are welcome to participate in most of these collaborative campaigns.
Safeguarding the wellbeing of children and youth through donations for families
Our Christmas campaign in partnership with Save the Children Finland enables us to help low-income children and youth at risk of social exclusion in Finland.
“More than 121,000 children live in low-income families in Finland, and child poverty has increased. Child poverty violates a child's right to an adequate standard of living and has harmful effects on the child’s well-being," says Johanna Vinberg, an expert on child poverty at Save the Children Finland.
This year, Save the Children Finland conducted a Children's Voice survey to find out the experiences of nearly 2,000 young people about their family's financial situation.
“The results show the damaging effects of low income and poverty. Children talk about everyday scarcity; it is impossible to buy new clothes and there is a shortage of food. Poverty reduces children’s opportunities to meet friends and engage in leisure activities. The quality of everyday life decreases, affecting life satisfaction and mental wellbeing. In the survey, four out of five children in low-income families were stressed and two out of three felt that their mental health was poor," Johanna says.
You can participate in the Save the Children campaign with charity gift cards, available at Stockmann's online store and department store checkouts. The charity campaign runs from 1 November to 31 December.
Delighting seniors with flowers
For many seniors, Christmas is the loneliest festive time of year. That’s why we want to continue delighting seniors and our collaboration with the Kotona Asuen Seniorihoiva through the popular Be Santa for a Senior campaign. This year, the campaign gives special thanks and Christmas joy to the veterans of our wars, each of whom will receive their own Christmas flower through the campaign.
You can participate in the Christmas flower campaign from 13 November to 19 December in all Stockmann department stores in Finland by buying a donation flower from the garden department of the stores. If you wish, you can also leave a small personalised Christmas greeting for a senior citizen. The flowers will be delivered by Christmas to delight their recipients.
Decorating Christmas Tree
Stockmann will once again contribute to the Joulupuu (Christmas Tree) campaign with product donations together with its partners. The collection will provide Christmas gifts to children and youth under child protection or in need of special support who may otherwise not receive any presents this Christmas.
