Stockmann invites all to a magic forest of wishes - the department stores’ beloved fairytale windows will open on Saturday 4 November 2023
Stockmann Oyj Abp, Press Release 1 November 2023
Stockmann will kick off the festive Christmas season this Saturday, when the beloved fairytale windows open in its department stores in Helsinki city center, Turku and Tampere. This Christmas, the fairytale windows combine tradition and modern digital realisations with hologram and projection-generated animals alongside the familiar characters.
Stockmann first introduced the fairytale window of its Helsinki city center department store in 1949. Since then, it has been an important sign of the coming Christmas for many children and adults, bringing them into the spirit of the approaching festive season. This year, the fairytale windows will open not only in the Helsinki city centre store, but also in Tampere and Turku on Saturday 4 November.
“We are proud of the long tradition of our fairytale window and we want to offer new experiences every year. This Christmas, we wanted to combine the sympathetic characters of the window with modern technology, and the overall effect is surprising and miraculous. We are really looking forward to unveiling our window to the public,” says Kati Parkkinen, Stockmann’s In-Store Creative Concept Manager.
Fairytale brings windows to life
This year, Stockmann's fairy tale windows allow us to dive into a magic forest of wishes; it is like summer in the middle of winter. Stockmann has created a fairytale for the world of the Christmas windows, bringing the characters and events of the magical forest to life in a new way. There is also more movement and technology than before, with holograms for the first time and projections making a comeback after a few years' break. Holographic and projected animals explore the magical forest in harmony with the royal figures and animals familiar from previous years.
“We believe that Christmas lovers of all ages will once again enjoy our fairytale windows. This year, our windows will not only convey a magical atmosphere, but also an important message of kindness and the value of sharing goodness. With everything that's going on in the world, it feels especially important. We hope that through this tradition we can share some joy and hope for everyone," Parkkinen continues.
