Stockmann strengthening its offering of quality second-hand products
Stockmann Oyj Abp, Press Release 31 October 2023
Stockmann is expanding its selection of high-quality second-hand products in its Helsinki city centre department store, while offering customers new ways to recycle children's clothing and designer bags and accessories.
Stockmann aims to increasingly focus on product ranges and services that support the circular economy. Stockmann also wants to encourage customers to invest in quality products that stand the test of time and hold their resale value. The second-hand offering of the Helsinki city centre department store has just been expanded. The newest partners are Ninyes, a children's clothing recycling company, and Luxury Helsinki, a store offering second-hand designer bags and accessories.
“We warmly welcome Ninyes and Luxury Helsinki to our store. The new partners are a great addition to our own fashion selection of high-quality, long-lasting products and will enable our customers to find seamless ways to recycle. With our new partners, we are also responding to our customers' wishes for a wider range of second-hand products and services," says Chief Stockmann Style Officer Riku Lyly.
Quality second-hand fashion for kids
In the Helsinki city center store, customers will soon be able to shop from the second-hand selection of selected children's clothing brands and recycle the clothes of their little ones in a new way. From the beginning of November, the children's fashion range on the sixth floor of the department store will be complemented by a pop-up shop for second-hand children's clothes and a recycling service where used children's clothes can be brought for resale. Behind the new second-hand selection and recycling service is Ninyes, a Finnish company specialising in the selection and recycling of quality brands.
“Children grow up fast and the constantly changing weather affects their clothing needs. It’s great to be able to offer our customers a new, easy way to recycle children's clothes, while providing them with a well-curated second-hand selection of high quality. We hope that our new services will also attract customers who are not yet familiar with Stockmann's range," says Lyly.
The new store of second-hand children’s clothes provides a selection of good condition clothes for kids aged 1-12. Ninyes checks and prices the clothes and in return the customer receives a Stockmann gift voucher.
“The customer gets the gift voucher within two weeks, instead of having to wait for someone to buy the clothes they bring in for recycling," Lyly continues.
Designer bags and accessories with a touch more luxury
A wider range of designer products is now available at the Helsinki city centre department store. Luxury Helsinki, specialising in second-hand designer bags and accessories, opened a pop-up shop on the first floor of the Helsinki city centre store in October.
The selection of the Luxury Helsinki pop-up shop at Stockmann includes products from brands such as Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Bvlgari, Cartier, Celine, Chanel, Chloé, Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Goyard, Gucci, Hermès, Loewe, Prada, Rolex, Valentino, Van Cleef & Arpels, and YSL. Stockmann’s customers can also bring their own second-hand treasures for sale in Luxury Helsinki.
Besides Ninyes and Luxury Helsinki, Stockmann’s other circular economy partners include HSY, Emmy, Kierrätyskeskus, Mjuk and Relove. Moreover, Stockmann focuses on extending the life cycle of products by offering sewing, laundry, and shoemaker’s services, for example.
