Stockmann and WWF campaign collected donations for the Baltic Sea
Stockmann plc, Responsibility news, 11 September 2018
During a weekend-long donation campaign to celebrate Finnish Nature Day, the customers of Stockmann department stores made nearly 2600 donations to the WWF for its work to protect the Baltic Sea.
Stockmann and the WWF organised a donation campaign to celebrate Finnish Nature Day (25 August). The donated funds will be used to support the WWF’s work to protect the Baltic Sea. During the campaign, which took place over the weekend of 24-26 August, Stockmann’s customers made almost 2600 donations in total in conjunction with their purchases.
Stockmann and the WWF already campaigned together for the Baltic Sea last autumn with the successful plastic bag campaign at Stockmann’s department stores. Stockmann encouraged its customers not to buy plastic bags and donated a small sum towards the work to protect the Baltic Sea for each bag that was not bought.
“We are very happy that our customers wanted to participate with us again in the important work to protect the Baltic Sea. I am also pleased about the many positive comments from our sales staff about the donation campaign. Thank you to each and everyone who took part!” says Johanna Stenbäck, CSR Manager at Stockmann.
The donation campaign was part of Stockmann’s social responsibility work. The company’s goal is to reduce the environmental impact of its operations and to conduct its business in accordance with sustainable development, and also to inspire its customers to make responsible choices.
