Stockmann to introduce Alipay mobile payments

In order to further improve customer experience, Stockmann will introduce Alipay, China’s most popular mobile payment service, in its department store in Helsinki. Alipay is an easy, safe and simple service for mobile payments.

The number of Chinese tourists visiting Finland has grown rapidly and at Stockmann they are the second largest group of tourists from outside the EU making tax-free purchases.

 “We want to make shopping easier for tourists and to offer them better service. With Alipay we can offer tourists an opportunity to use a payment alternative that they are familiar with from home and improve their customer experience,” says Anna Salmi, CCO, Customer, Marketing & Digitalization, at Stockmann.

Founded in 2004, Alipay is the world’s largest mobile payment platform. Alipay has more than 450 million active users and over 100 million daily transactions. Alipay is also a marketing channel: the service presents companies to tourists and travellers and it can be used to plan itineraries and routes that make shopping easy.

The Alipay payment service will become available at Stockmann’s Helsinki department store in mid-September.
