New restaurant and terrace to be opened in Helsinki department store
Stockmann Roof restaurant will be opened in May 2017 on the 8th and 9th floor of Stockmann’s flagship department store located in Helsinki city center. In addition to central location, the restaurant will have a terrace with magnificent view over the rooftops of Helsinki.
This is the first time when the roof is taken into commercial use after the department store building was finished in 1930. The terrace will have 190 seats and the premises are placed in two levels: one is fully covered and other has a possibility to enjoy the sunny weather. Restaurant services are provided by Ravintola Teatteri (part of Royal Ravintolat group) operating as a tenant in Stockmann’s premises.
”Royal Ravintolat completes ideally the services in our flagship store located on the best spot in Helsinki. Stockmann Roof offers our customers a first class opportunity to enjoy the unique environment in heart of the city”, says Seppo Oksanen, Director of Commercial Operations at Stockmann Real Estate.
”For city residents, visitors and tourists Stockmann Roof is a cosy oasis in the middle of Helsinki. The terrace is the best place to enjoy the Finnish summer and it’s perfect spot to relax while shopping or you can just invite friends together to start the evening in Helsinki city center”, says Marketing Director Joonas Mäkilä from Royal Ravintolat.
Stockmann Roof offers music, summery drinks from brewery products to wines and cocktails, soft drinks, coffee and tea as well as selected courses from the menu of Hanko Sushi restaurant. Stockmann Roof will be open on Mon-Fri at 11 AM – 9 PM, on Saturdays at 12 AM – 9 PM and on Sundays at 12 AM – 6 PM. ”We are excited to start the co-operation with Stockmann and delighted to have a new department for Ravintola Teatteri to the best place in town. The terrace will be open during the whole summer until the end of September, if the weather allows. Sometimes a little unpredictable Finnish summer does not disturb since we have the covered area and terrace with glazing”, says Pekka Tyynilä, General Manager at Ravintola Teatteri.
The restaurant is also available to be booked for private events with special serving. ”Stockmann Roof will have an own entrance which enables late opening hours after the department store is closed”, Tyynilä continues.
