Long-term responsibility work to achieve more transparent operations
Stockmann is committed to work for a sustainable future and to offer responsible shopping experiences to our customers. Our CSR work covers our whole value chain, from manufacturing goods to store functions and to waste recycling. A traceable and transparent fashion procurement chain is one of Stockmann’s main focus areas in our CSR work.
Supplier and factory list has been expanded to include accessories
Special attention is paid to responsibility and transparency of the procurement chain in the production of Stockmann’s own fashion brands. We order the products from BSCI-audited factories. In 2015 the following number of audits and inspections took place in factories that manufacture Stockmann Group’s own fashion brands: 142 BSCI audits, 91 Accord inspections and 116 audits conducted by Stockmann’s own purchasing offices.
Stockmann was the first Finnish fashion company to publish its own brand supplier and factory list in 2014. The list is updated every year, and it covers 99 per cent of the suppliers and factories of our own fashion brands based on purchasing price. During the year, the factory list has been expanded to include accessories, e.g. shoes, bags and gloves. A country of origin marking has also been added to all products of our own label fashion products.
New CSR goals for 2016-2018
Stockmann’s new CSR strategy for 2016-2018 was approved at the beginning of the year. Our CSR priorities have been summed up in the strategy to form five categories that are essential to our business. The categories are customers, personnel, products, environment, and finance and governance. Each category has been set objectives through which the development of the CSR work can be monitored. Key objectives are e.g. inspiring customers to make responsible choices, reducing food waste in Stockmann Delicatessens, new energy efficiency goals in real estates, reducing logistics emissions, and development of personnel’s learning and work safety. A transparent procurement chain as well as product safety will continue to be key focus areas in Stockmann’s responsibility work.
Stockmann has switched to combined reporting in its annual reporting. The 2015 Business Review introduces management practices of Stockmann’s CSR work, how we create value to stakeholders, and examples of responsibility projects. The CSR report includes a more specific account of the results of Stockmann’s CSR work according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 guidelines. See the reports at year2015.stockmanngroup.com
