STOCKMANN GROUP’S REVENUE IN MARCH 2010
In March, the Stockmann Group’s revenue (exclusive of VAT) exclusive of
Hobby Hall’s discontinued operations abroad amounted to EUR 132.4 million,
up 14.5 per cent. This was the fourth consecutive month since the
beginning of the economic downturn when the Group’s revenue exceeded that
of the corresponding month a year earlier.
Since the beginning of 2010, Hobby Hall has been a part of the Department
Store division. The Department Store Division’s revenue includes Hobby
Hall’s figures, and the comparison figures have been changed respectively.
The Department Store Division’s revenue increased by 9.8 per cent. Revenue
in Finland increased by 9.5 per cent. Development in the department stores
in Finland was very strong (+16 per cent) but Hobby Hall’s sales suffered
clearly from the late spring, which postponed the sales of bicycles and
gardening equipment. Department Store Division’s revenue abroad increased
by 10.8 per cent, thanks to the good growth of 20 per cent in Russia. Most
of the month there was one department store more in Russia compared to the
previous year. Sales in the Baltic market showed some recovery and were
close to the previous year’s level.
Lindex’s revenue increased by 22.5 per cent; by 10.1 per cent in Finland
and by 24.2 per cent abroad. Revenue increased in all markets but Latvia.
Growth was particularly strong in the main market, Sweden. In addition to
that, the strengthening of Swedish krona gives an extra boost to euro-
denominated sales.
Seppälä’s revenue increased by 18.9 per cent. It increased by 15.7 per
cent in Finland and by 24.8 per cent abroad, thanks to a 40 per cent
growth in the Russian market. For the first time since 2008, also the
Baltic market showed a minor growth compared to the previous year.
