STOCKMANN plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE January 9, 2004, 10.30 a.m.
STOCKMANN GROUP’S PRELIMINARY SALES IN DECEMBER AND IN 2003
In December, the Stockmann Group’s preliminary sales figures were up 8 per
cent on the previous year and totalled EUR 181.4 million. In the last
quarter, sales developed favourably in October and December, whereas
November sales proved a disappointment. The growth in sales during the
whole quarter was 6 per cent. In December, the best sales growth, 27 per
cent, was reported by the Vehicle Division. Sales by the Department Store
Division were up 6 per cent. The division’s sales grew both in Finland and
abroad. Thanks to the department store that was opened in Riga in October,
the growth was stronger abroad. Sales by Hobby Hall were up 1 per cent and
sales by Seppälä down 2 per cent on the previous year.
Preliminarily, the whole-year sales were up 7.4 per cent and totalled
approximately EUR 1.7 billion. Of the sales growth about 1.5 percentage
points were due to establishing new retail units.
The final sales figures will be published in the Group’s Financial
Statement Bulletin on February 12, 2004.
