THE STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN NOVEMBER 2004

STOCKMANN plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE December 8, 2004, at 8.30

THE STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN NOVEMBER 2004

In November, the Stockmann Group’s sales amounted to EUR 152.3 million, up
2 per cent. Sales by the Department Store Division and Seppälä grew
clearly whereas sales by the Vehicle Division and Hobby Hall were down on
the previous year due to downsized operations in these divisions. Sales by
the Department Store Division were up 10 per cent. The division’s sales
grew by 5 per cent in Finland and by 30 per cent abroad. The strong sales
growth abroad is contributed by the new department store that was opened
in Moscow in April, the new Zara store opened in the summer and the
favourable sales trend in the department stores in the Baltic countries.
Sales by Seppälä were up 14 per cent. Sales grew by 10 per cent in Finland
and by 50 per cent abroad. The division’s strong sales growth abroad is
contributed by the favourable sales trend in Estonia and Latvia as well as
the two stores opened in Russia. Sales by the Vehicle Division were down 9
per cent. The whole decrease was due to the transfer of the VW-Audi car
dealership in Herttoniemi, Helsinki, to Kesko on July 1, 2004. The same-
store sales by the Vehicle Division were up 12 per cent. Sales by Hobby
Hall were down 8 per cent due to the closing down of three stores and the
poor sales trend in Latvia and Lithuania.
