STOCKMANN GROUP SALES IN JANUARY 2009

STOCKMANN plc
Company Announcement

STOCKMANN GROUP SALES IN JANUARY 2009

In January, Stockmann Group’s sales amounted to EUR 150.5 million, 13.5
per cent down on the corresponding figure in January 2008. The traditional
winter sale turned out weaker than usually because part of the sales was
made already in December due to price campaigns. The considerably weakened
exchange rates of the Swedish krona, the Norwegian krone and the Russian
rouble affected euro-nominated sales.

Sales by the Department Store Division declined by 16 per cent, 12 per
cent in Finland and 24 per cent abroad. Sales in Russia were affected by
the closure of the department store in Smolensky Passage shopping centre
in Moscow in May 2008 due to illegal action of the lessor. Sales in the
other department stores in Moscow were up 5 per cent in euro terms and 24
per cent in rouble terms.

Sales by Lindex were down by 11 per cent in euro terms. In local
currencies sales were on a par with the previous year.

Sales of Seppälä declined by 2 per cent in euro and increased by 1 per
cent in local currencies. Sales declined by 1 per cent in Finland, and
abroad sales declined 3 per cent in euro and increased by 6 per cent in
local currencies.

Hobby Hall’s sales declined by 17 per cent, 13 per cent in Finland and 33
per cent abroad. Sales declined considerably in Estonia and Latvia and the
operations in Russia were discontinued by the beginning of February.
