Stockmann open longer at weekends

Stockmann is to extend the weekend opening hours of all its department stores in Finland following changes in the legislation applying to retail opening hours. From 1 February 2016, Stockmann’s Finnish department stores will be open on Saturdays 9.00 am – 7.00/9.00 pm and on Sundays 11.00 am – 6.00 pm. No changes will be made to the Monday–Friday opening hours. During the Crazy Days campaign the department stores will remain open longer than the normal opening hours.

“Our aim is to provide a top-notch shopping experience for customers in our department stores. We know that our customers are shopping more and more at weekends, and by extending our opening hours we will be meeting customers’ wishes by providing greater flexibility for shopping in our department stores. The extended opening hours will also smooth out the peaks during busy shopping periods such as the Crazy Days campaign,” says Jouko Pitkänen, Director, Stockmann Retail.

The new opening hours arrangements at Stockmann department stores will also affect specific public holidays. In spring 2016, all of the Stockmann department stores in Finland will be open on Ascension Day (5 May) and Whit Sunday (15 May). The opening hours applicable on days preceding public holidays will also be extended.

All of Stockmann’s department stores will also be open on Epiphany (6 January 2016): the Jumbo department store will be open 12.00 noon – 9.00 pm, and the other department stores 12.00 noon – 6.00 pm.
