STOCKMANN GROUP?S SALES IN JUNE 2004

STOCKMANN plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE July 12, 2004, at 11.30

STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN JUNE 2004

In June, the Stockmann Group’s sales were up 8.3 per cent and amounted
to EUR 132.8 million. Sales by the Department Store Division were up 14
per cent. The growth was especially vigorous abroad where the growth was
contributed by the department store opened in Riga, Latvia in 2003, the
department store opened in Moscow’s Mega South shopping centre in April
2004, and the new Zara store opened in Moscow’s Marina Rocha shopping
centre in mid-June. Sales by the Vehicle Division were up 7 per cent and
those by Seppälä 5 per cent. Seppälä’s sales abroad grew strongly.
Seppälä’s new stores are the five stores opened in the autumn 2003 and
the spring 2004 in Latvia, the renovated and reopened store at Tallinn’s
Viru Centre and the new store opened in Moscow’s Mega South shopping
centre in April. Hobby Hall’s sales were down 9 per cent on the previous
year. Distance retail in Finland grew. The division’s sales in Finland
were, however, down on the previous year due to the closing down of four
stores in the spring 2004. Hobby Hall’s sales abroad were down on the
previous year mainly due to the tightened-up credit policy.
