THE STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN JULY 2005

STOCKMANN plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE August 11, 2005, at 12.15

THE STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN JULY 2005

The Stockmann Group’s sales in July were EUR 128.4 million, up 3 per cent
on last year’s figure.

The Department Store Division’s sales were up 7 per cent. Sales were down
2 per cent in Finland and up 37 per cent abroad. The decrease in sales in
Finland was affected by the fact that the seasonal sale started already in
June as against in July in 2004. The strong increase in sales outside
Finland was due to the new department store that was opened in Moscow in
December as well as the growth of the network of stores and the good
growth in like-for-like sales in all the market areas.

Seppälä’s sales grew by 4 per cent. Sales in Finland were on a par with
the previous year’s figure due to the fact that the seasonal sale was down
on the year 2004. Sales outside Finland were up 38 per cent. The strong
growth in sales outside Finland was due to the growth of the network of
stores and the solid growth in like-for-like sales in all the market
areas.

Stockmann Auto’s sales were down 3 per cent on the previous year.

Hobby Hall’s sales were down 10 per cent but surpassed the target clearly.
