Environmental responsibility
The two main themes of Stockmann’s environmental responsibility are climate and the circular economy. We reduce the climate impacts of our value chain in line with the Paris Agreement and are committed to the SBTi initiative. We promote the circular economy as a growing part of our product and service offering.
We continuously develop business operations that support the circular economy by exploring new solutions to extend the life cycle of products and materials, while also saving natural resources and reducing climate impacts. We also develop services supporting the circular economy.
We pay attention to the quality, recyclability and quantity of packaging materials in order to minimise the environmental impact of packaging materials.
By improving material efficiency, we reduce unnecessary packaging materials. We closely follow developments in the industry and changes in legislation. Plastic bags are mainly made from recycled plastic and paper bags and cardboard packaging from FSC certified material. Packaging materials used in our online store are partly made from recycled materials. You can order plastic-free delivery in our online store.
The department stores in Finland operate in accordance with the ISO 14001 certified environmental management system and in the Baltics, the stores apply Stockmann’s environmental management system policies and guidelines. The company works in close cooperation with its service providers, who play an important role in achieving environmental goals.
