The renovation of the Stockmann department store in Turku continues – the second floor soon to have a completely new look
Stockmann, Press Release 5 December 2024
The coming year 2025 will begin with some much-anticipated changes at the Stockmann department store in Turku, as renovation work starts on the second floor. The renovation will give the men's fashion floor a completely new, modern look that will be consistent with the first floor renovated last autumn.
Stockmann’s department store in Turku will continue its renewal when an extensive renovation of the second floor starts in January. The upcoming renovation is a natural continuation of the first floor renewal completed last autumn. The first floor of the store, renovated from floor to ceiling, was presented to customers in November last year and now the second floor will be renewed to match the new style. The second floor houses men's fashion, women's lingerie and footwear.
The second floor will be brightened up with new energy-efficient lighting solutions and made more welcoming with inviting seating areas, as was done on the first floor. In addition, products will be repositioned to make it easier for customers to explore the offerings. New brands requested by customers in Turku will also be added to the selections.
“It’s really great to share this exciting news with our customers about the upcoming transformation of the second floor. We have received a huge amount of positive feedback about the first floor and many have expressed their wish to see the same fresh style continue upstairs. Together with the team, we are looking forward to presenting the renewed second floor," says Riikka Mattila, Director, Department Store Stockmann Turku.
Customer views taken into account in the renewal
Through customer surveys and feedback, Stockmann has collected the wishes of Turku department store customers regarding the selection and services. When planning the renovation of the men's fashion floor, male customers in particular have been heard.
“Our local, quality-conscious customers have asked for a more comfortable and brighter shopping environment, as well as new, trendy brands in our selection. Customers have liked the comfortable seating areas downstairs and would like to see more of the same upstairs. It’s great that the renovation will allow us to implement many of the things our customers have been asking for," Riikka Mattila continues.
The renovation is expected to last until early autumn 2025. The store will be open as usual during the work, and the selection of the second floor will be available despite the renovation. New spring arrivals of men’s fashion will also be available as usual.
The department store currently features a much-loved fairy tale window and an atmospheric Christmas shop. As a new addition, Stockmann's own pick-up boxes have just arrived at the department store to make online shopping easier.
