RUSSIA’S SEVENTH STOCKMANN DEPARTMENT STORE OPENS IN EKATERINBURG

Continuing its expansion in Russia, Stockmann is opening a new department store today, 30 March 2011, in the Greenwich shopping centre in Ekaterinburg. Located on the Asian side of the Ural mountains, Ekaterinburg is the fourth largest city in the country. The department store is Stockmann’s first outside Moscow and St Petersburg.
Stockmann’s department store is located on three floors of the Greenwich shopping centre and occupies a total retail space of 7 800 square metres. The department store offers a wide selection of fashion, interior and food products and there are 270 employees offering excellent and professional customer service. Stockmann’s investment in the new department store is approximately EUR 14 million.
Stockmann opened its first store in Moscow in 1989 and its first department store in 1998. Today, there are five Stockmann department stores in Moscow and one department store and the Nevsky Centre shopping centre in St Petersburg. The Stockmann Group also has more than 70 Seppälä, Lindex and Bestseller franchising chain fashion stores in Russia.
With its population of approximately 1.4 million, Ekaterinburg is the fourth largest city in Russia after Moscow, St Petersburg and Novosibirsk. There are several major industrial companies in the city and it is an important railway hub for destinations in Siberia.
