STOCKMANN GROUP´S SALES IN JUNE 2007
STOCKMANN GROUP´S SALES IN JUNE 2007
The sales of the Stockmann group continued their strong growth. The June sales
increased by 12% to EUR 119.4 million. Sales increased in all business units.
The best percentage increase was reported by Seppälä, whose sales were up 17%.
In Finland, Seppälä’s sales were up 7%, while sales abroad were up 56%. The
strong growth in the foreign markets was contributed to by good like-for-like
growth in all market areas and the expansion of the retail network, especially
in Russia.
Hobby Hall increased their sales by 14% in June. In Finland, sales were up 10%,
while sales abroad were up 39%. The good growth in the sales abroad was
particularly due to the entry into the Lithuanian markets earlier this year.
Sales of the Department Store Division were up 10%. In Finland, sales were up
8%, while sales abroad were up 19%. The growth in foreign sales was speeded up
by the continuing good growth of the Baltic department stores, the new
department store which opened in Moscow in February and the extension of the
Bestseller chain in Russia.
The total sales of the continuing operations of the group increased by 7% to EUR
722.4 million in the first part of the year. The sales of Seppälä increased by
8%, the sales of the Department Store Division by 7% and the sales of Hobby Hall
by 3%. The development of the Hobby Hall sales in the second quarter was
influenced by a new information system implemented in April, causing delays in
sales entries during the transition period.
