STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN OCTOBER 2006
STOCKMANN plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE November 9, 2006, at 10.45
STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN OCTOBER 2006
The Stockmann Group’s sales in October were EUR 160.5 million.
Consolidated sales, eliminating the Zara business in Russia that was
divested as from January 1, 2006, and the Stockmann Auto business that was
transferred to new owners on March 1, 2006, were up 4 per cent.
In October, sales by the Department Store Division were up 9 per cent.
Sales were up 3 per cent in Finland and 27 per cent abroad. The Crazy Days
campaign that was carried out in October in four countries at the same
time was a success and once again set up an all-time sales record. Sales
generated by the international operations were further lifted by the
expansion of the Bestseller chain in Russia.
Seppälä’s sales were down 5 per cent. Sales in Finland were down 14 per
cent while abroad they were up 29 per cent. The sales of winter clothing
did not start before the turn of October and November and this affected
both Seppälä’s and the Department Store Division’s sales.
Hobby Hall’s sales were down 16 per cent. Aggregate sales in Finland were
down 13 per cent although online sales continued their strong growth. In
Estonia and Latvia, sales were down 32 per cent. The decrease in sales was
attributable mainly to campaign schedules that differed from those of last
year and the drop in the price level of electronic products in the higher
price-classes.
