THE STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN NOVEMBER
STOCKMANN plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE December 9, 2005, at 13.30
THE STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN NOVEMBER
In November, the Stockmann Group’s sales amounted to EUR 167.5 million, up
10.0 per cent.
The largest growth was reported by the Department Store Division, up 19
per cent. The division’s sales grew by 11 per cent in Finland and by 47
per cent abroad. The increase in sales in Finland was contributed by the
new department store that was opened in the new section of the Jumbo
shopping centre in Vantaa at the end of October and has got a good start,
as well as by the fourth Zara store in Finland. The positive sales growth
abroad is attributable to the new department store that was opened in
Moscow in December 2004, the growth of the network of stores and the
excellent growth in like-for-like sales in all the market areas.
Stockmann Auto’s sales were up 10 per cent. All product lines reported a
good sales growth.
Seppälä’s sales were down one per cent on the previous year; sales
decreased by 6 per cent in Finland whereas the sales abroad increased by
36 per cent. The exceptionally warm weather in November made sales of
heavy clothing difficult for both the Department Store Division and
Seppälä.
Hobby Hall’s sales were down 10 per cent on the previous year. This was
attributable mainly to marketing activities and their timing that differed
from the previous year. Sales decreased in Finland by 8 per cent and
abroad by 20 per cent. The sales abroad were affected by the withdrawal
from Lithuania during the first part of the year.
