THE STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN OCTOBER 2004

STOCKMANN plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE November 10, 2004, at 14.30

THE STOCKMANN GROUP’S SALES IN OCTOBER 2004

In October, the Stockmann Group’s sales were EUR 172.1 million or on a par
with the previous year. In Finland October had one sales day less than
last year’s October. Sales by the Department Store Division grew by 13 per
cent with the contribution of the extremely successful Crazy Days
campaign. The division’s sales grew in Finland by 5 per cent and abroad by
55 per cent. The strong growth abroad is contributed by the new department
store that was opened in Moscow in spring 2004. Sales by Seppälä were 3
per cent down on the previous year. In Finland sales were down 7 per cent
whereas abroad sales were up 34 per cent. The warm weather in October
affected the sales of outdoor leisure clothes. Sales by the Vehicle
Division and Hobby Hall were clearly down on the previous year due to
downsized operations. Sales by the Vehicle Division were down 19 per cent,
due to the transfer of the car dealership in Herttoniemi, Helsinki, to the
Kesko Group on July 1, 2004. The same-store sales of the Vehicle Division
were up 5 per cent. Sales by Hobby Hall were down 18 per cent. An
essential reason for the decrease in Hobby Hall’s sales is closing down of
four stores.
